Up close, Legend Night gets brighter after that when its vetiver, a very red cedar and some pine start lifting it up. A slight bit of tonka in there, some vanilla, could've been better with more vanilla. I certainly feel as though I have mojo back. This almost fills a void in my heart that La Nuit left. This is a lot like La Nuit in that La Nuit also develops gradually and smoothly. It’s nice to be able to smell the individual notes in order from top to base. The scent is sweet and warm like a good “date night” fragrance needs to be. Givenchy Pi having monster projection and La Nuit having a modest projection. I would say this sits between Givenchy Pi and La Nuit. I think La Nuit smells spicier like a nice Massaman curry whereas Mont Blanc vaguely reminds me of a vanilla dessert. I’m not saying they smell the same because they definitely don’t. I know it’s a good scent for me because it reminds me of La Luit. Honestly, I dismissed it at first thinking it was a bit too sweet on my skin but I had to come back later in the day and buy it. However, I can’t find either where I live in Cambodia but I have found Mont Blanc Legend. There are some fragrances I will never part with and two of those are Givenchy Pi and YSL La Nuit L’Homme. In short, this gets a thumbs down not just because it’s not to my taste, but also because it’s a poor example of what this style of fragrance can accomplish. If sweetness is your thing, there are better options (Azzaro’s Wanted line, for instance, but even that isn’t something I’d personally reach for). I’m middle-aged and married, so that’s not my scene, but even if were I younger and single, I would sooner reach for something fresh and clean. Outside of that, I suppose this would be fine for a younger person on a night out. For a date, I’d choose something more classy and intimate (other reviewers have mentioned La Nuit - that would suffice, though I don’t see the similarity). I can see how some would like this, but it’s not something I would ever wear. Simply put, it is a sweet woody-amber in the vein of something like Armani Code (or one of its flankers), with the rough edges (somewhat) smoothed out. Legend Night has little of the original’s DNA and is grating enough to be annoying, but not enough to be cloying (thankfully). I could honestly stop there, but I’ll offer a few additional thought. I agree with Varanis Ridari’s assessment.
